Moxxi’s Heist Of The Handsome Jackpot Review (Borderlands 3 DLC)

Welcome to our Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot review. Love or hate the Borderlands series, it’s hard to deny that it’s one of those rare gems that keeps support from its developer and publisher long after a new title has released. Just look at Borderlands 2 and its most recent DLC, Commander Lilith and the Fight for Sanctuary which released 7 years after the game was originally released and then let’s not forget the themed events that Borderlands 3 has had since its release back in September and now this its first large-size DLC.

Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot sees you recruited by Moxxi to loot the Handsome Jackpot Casino. Floating high in space, the Handsome Jackpot is a Casino built by none other than Handsome Jack himself, as a place the rich can go to gamble their hard-earned money.

The Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel’s Timothy Lawrence has a major part to play in the plot alongside a host of new faces to the series, whom you will find yourself recruiting to help the plan go ahead as smoothly as possible.

A derelict place of sorts and being left to crumble after Handsome Jack’s demise in Borderlands 2, the Handsome Jackpot is now inhabited by many unwelcoming dwellers who aim to protect the very treasure you’re there to loot.

The Handsome Jackpot is home to several different backdrops to explore from the main Casino area itself right down to the slums of Trashlantis, which is literally an area built on a dump of ruined robots and Claptraps. Each new area provides the charm of exploration as found in the base game itself and there are collectibles and secrets to be found.

By DLC standards this is no short pack as it takes roughly 8 hours or so to complete, especially if you want to find all the collectibles and complete all of the sidequests.

Helping to bulk up the DLC, the Sidequests are very welcome although the odd few were slightly tedious as they have you going from one area to another and then back again in a rather annoying fashion.

The DLC itself is very much classic Borderlands in that it retains the same formula of looting and shooting your way through different environments and taking down some challenging bosses.

Bringing a fun story to the mix and adding even more life to Borderlands 3, Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot is a refreshing way to get back behind the weapons of your Vault Hunter and kick some ass whilst collecting loot.

This concludes our Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot review. The DLC can be purchased separately or you can purchase the Season Pass and get this and upcoming DLC for just one low price. Purchasers of the Deluxe Editions already have access to the Season Pass.
